LOIS MARY (ASHE) BOULLIER
Lois was born on 10th. March 1951 in the British Hospital for Mothers and Babies, Woolwich, while her father, the Rev. Francis Patrick Bellesme Ashe, was Vicar of Blindley Heath, Surrey. Her mother was Marion Islay, the daughter of the Rt. Rev. F. F. Johnston, Bishop in Egypt, and Assistant Bishop of Guildford.
Her first School was The Red Barn Infant School in Blindley Heath. Her parents moved to the Vicarage, Otley, Yorkshire in 1956.
Lois was the eldest of seven children: Robert and Francis John (born 11:2:53), Islay Jane and Andrew (born 6:1:58), Ruth (born 30:8:59) and David (born 26:1:63).
Lois attended four Schools while in Yorkshire - Littleburn in Burley-in-Wharfedale, Elmwood Lothian, Birklands, both in Harrogate, and Fulneck in Pudsey. When her parents moved to Leamington Spa, she went to the Kingsley School.
She began her nurse's training in 1969 at Guy's Hospital (where her mother had also trained), and became a State Registered Nurse in 1972.
From 1973 to 74 she did her Midwifery training at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
Her parents started a work amongst orphaned and abandoned children in Vietnam (Project Vietnam Orphans), and Lois joined the team in Saigon in 1975. She was there when the Daily Mail Air Lift took place. She returned on the plane with over 100 children and looked after some of them until the 51 PVO children were adopted into Christian homes.
Lois went out again, this time to Thailand with her brother, Robert, to work amongst Cambodian refugees in camps on the Thai border (Aranya Prathet and Surin). PVO became 'Christian Outreach' so that they could care for a much wider group of people in need.
Although Christian Outreach was not a Missionary Organisation, she found that many of the refugees asked questions about the Christian Faith, so after three and a half years working in refugee camps, she decided to attend a one year course on Overseas Studies at the London Bible College .There, she met Kenneth John Boullier, who had been working for 10 years with Operation Mobilisation on their ship Logos.
They were married on March 7th. 1981, and went to the Isle of Wight for a year where Ken was involved in teaching Sailing at the Medina Valley Centre, Newport. During that time their daughter Mary Ruth was born (28:1: 82).
From 1982 - 84 Ken trained for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol under the Rev George Carey, and while there, Esther Jane was born (25:4:84). Ken served his Title as Curate at St. Peter's and St. James, Hereford. Timothy John was born on 9th, February 1986, but only lived for eleven hours. Zoe Rebekah was born on 27 April 1987.
In 1987, Ken was appointed Vicar of Nutley and Rector of Maresfield, E. Sussex. Paul Samuel was born on May 14 1991 with Down's Syndrome and a serious heart condition. He died at six months after a heart operation at Guy's Hospital.
In 1992 Ken was offered the Parish of Kaitaia, Northland, New Zealand, and they moved there in 1993. In 1997, they returned to England, and Ken was appointed Vicar of Nailsea, Bristol. In 2008, Ken was inducted as Priest-in-Charge of the parish of St. Just in Roseland with St Mawes, and also as the lead minister for the cluster of parishes on the Roseland Peninsula.
