Prebendary of the Cathedral of Limerick and Rector of Croagh in the Diocese of Limerick.
In 1808, William's father-in law, Rev. Edward Jeffries took out an insurance policy on William's life in favour of William's children. Later in the same year, William took out an additional policy on his own life. Following his death in 1836, these policies featured in a case argued and determined in the High Court of Chancery in 1842 (see "Reports of Cases Argued and Determined in the High Court of Chancery" by William B. The case involved all of William's children, including Henry, who was the executor of William's Will.
Extract from "A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland" by Nicholas Carlisle (1810) Killfergus, in the Barony of Connello, co.of Limerick, and province of Munster: The Rev. William Ashe, the Vicar (in 1806), who has cure of souls, and is resident in the Parish of Newcastle, where he has been many years Curate; the duties are performed by the Curate of the contiguous Parish of Killnaghtin, at a salary of £10 per annum.
In 1814, William Shaw Mason published the first volume of "A Statistical Account, or Parochial Survey of Ireland (drawn up from the communications of the Clergy)". Section No: XV on "The Parish of Kilfergus (Diocese and County of Limerick)" was written by the Rev. William Ashe, Rector. He was instituted as the Vicar of Kilfergus on 14 July 1798.

William Ashe was rector of Glin Parish, where he was resident, but he was also rector of the parish of Grange over twenty miles away.

Limerick, born 1747, married Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Jeffries, of Ludlow, Shropshire, and had issue: 1. Edward (Rev.), married Anne, daughter of Gen. Harding, of co. Limerick, and had issue. 2. William. 3.Mary Anne (eldest daughter), born 9 Oct 1778, married 2 September 1812, Major James Sullivan, 83rd Regiment, of Chesterfield, co. Limerick, and died 8 Feb 1833.

In 1818, he became Prbendary of Croagh. 1818: William Ashe, M.A. a Vicar Choral; instituted Feb. 21. He died on June 24, 1836, aged 89.
